Mixtape Two - The Twin Cities
This one goes out to one of my favorite bands, The Hold Steady and the lovely and talented Martine who did such a great job helping me with the coding of this, and the other Bottom Line sites (which are coming soon.)
The Twin Cities (This mixtape has been retired.)
- The Hold Steady – Sequestered in Memphis. Pride of The Twin Cities, The Hold Steady rules. Period.
- Birdmonster – Born To Be Your Man. Really digging these guys. And I hear they’re tight with Spangley so that’s cool too.
- The Stills – Being Here. I’m a big fan of The Stills. Great live. They’re actually on tour with The Kings of Leon AND We Are Scientists. That, my friends, is a kick ass line-up.
- The Airborne Toxic Event – Wishing Well. Silly name for a band, but these guys are great. Keep an eye on them.
- The Clash – Lost In The Supermarket. Going old school here, one of my favorite songs ever.
- Paperboys – I’ve Just Seen A Face. One of my favorite Beatles songs, here done in a very nice Celtic/banjo/jiggy style by one of my favorite touring bands, The Paperboys.
- The Ting Tings – That’s Not My Name. This one is for the slow people. If you’ve not caught on by now though, I’m not sure what I can do for you. :)
- Brazilian Girls – Losing Myself. Another great live act. I’m digging their new album quite a bit.
- Cassettes Won’t Listen – Freeze and Explode. One of my favorite finds of the summer. Hat tip to my friend Morgan for hooking me up.
- Radical Face – Welcome Home, Son. A very, very pretty song. Sort of reminds me of a mix between Bon Iver, Simon and Garfunkel and Postal Service. Or something.
- Theresa Andersson – Na Na Na. I’ve been rocking her all week. Such talent, be sure and check the video.
